Michael Owen scored

In arguably one of the most important derby game between the two Manchester teams today, Michael Owen scored a goal that put the result beyond doubt. His goal totally paid back the trust and support his manager had on him.
Manchester City came up very strong in their first four games this season. With a string of highly priced ' superstars ', including the ex-United player Carlos Tevez, acquired by the mega money poured in by their new owner, City threatened to overtake United in the tussle for superiority in the city. Owen's goal shattered that City's dream at least for the moment. City could have been beaten by a more convincing result if not for some defending errors by the United side.
So much about who is the better side of the two teams, on an individual note, it was Owen whose clinically executed strike that settled the duel. He might not have appeared sharp in previous games, he is still one of the finest poachers the English game has seen. He showed in today's game that he has not lost much of his finesse in the box. The expectation of 15 to 20 goals from him by his manager may not be too much to ask for if he keeps his confidence and composure in later games. And if he does that, his manger 's gamble in bringing him to the team will surely be vindicated and that will prove yet another master stroke by Sir Alex Ferguson.
